How to prepare for this test

• Take your sample between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM

• If you have periods, test between days 2–5 (ideally day 3)

• If you do not have periods, test at any time

• Avoid intense exercise and fatty foods for 48 hours before testing

• If fasting, drink only water for 12 hours (optional, but may improve lipid accuracy)

• Take your sample at least 24 hours after vitamin or mineral supplements

• Avoid biotin for 2 days before the test

• Avoid vitamin B12 for 2 weeks before testing unless prescribed

• If you take thyroxine, continue as usual

• If on liothyronine or DTE, take after your blood draw

• Let us know if you take amiodarone or lithium
