Results are typically available within 3 working days from when the lab receives your sample.

How to prepare for this test

To ensure accurate results:

• Take your sample between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM

• Avoid intense exercise for 48 hours beforehand

• Avoid fatty foods for 8 hours before your test (fasting not required)

• Stay well hydrated

• Avoid iron or B12 supplements for 48 hours prior

• Do not take biotin supplements for 2 days before testing (unless prescribed)

• If using TRT, test midway between injections or doses unless advised otherwise

• Continue other medications unless instructed by your clinician

• Let us know if you take amiodarone or lithium, as they may affect thyroid results
