How to prepare for this test

To ensure accurate results:

• Take your sample between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM

• Avoid heavy exercise for 48 hours before testing

• Avoid fatty foods for 8 hours beforehand (fasting not required)

• Stay well hydrated

• Take your sample at least 24 hours after any vitamin or mineral supplements

• Do not take biotin supplements for 2 days before this test (unless prescribed)

• Do not take Vitamin B12 for 2 weeks before testing unless prescribed — check with your doctor

• If you take thyroxine, take as usual

• If on liothyronine or DTE, take it after your blood draw

• Let us know if you take amiodarone or lithium, as these affect thyroid markers
