It is for adults wanting to assess liver function, whether because of alcohol intake, suspected fatty liver, medication use, or symptoms such as abdominal discomfort and fatigue. It measures liver enzymes, bilirubin, albumin and total protein.

Yes. Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours, and ideally longer. Recent drinking raises liver enzymes, particularly GGT, and produces a result that reflects the past few days rather than your underlying liver health.

A short fast is preferable, as recent fatty meals can affect some readings. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours with water only is advisable, especially if lipids are included.

Yes. Fatty liver disease in particular can be present with entirely normal enzymes, especially in its earlier stages. Normal results are reassuring but do not completely exclude liver disease, and imaging is sometimes needed alongside blood testing.

It can. Intense exercise raises some enzymes, and certain supplements and medications, including paracetamol taken regularly and some bodybuilding products, affect liver markers. Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours and tell us what you take when booking.
