How to prepare
- Fasting required 8–12 h before the test (water only) recommended for glucose, cholesterol/triglyceride accuracy
- Sample timing: between 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- Stay hydrated; avoid strenuous exercise, heavy meals, and supplements (iron, B12, multivitamins, biotin) for 48 hours prior
- Continue prescribed medications unless otherwise directed

Who is this test for?
It is for men already receiving testosterone replacement therapy who need regular monitoring. It tracks testosterone alongside haematocrit, oestradiol, PSA, and liver and lipid markers, which are the parameters that require ongoing surveillance during treatment.
When in my cycle of treatment should I test?
For injections, the standard approach is a trough sample taken immediately before your next dose, as this shows the lowest level your body reaches. For gels, test three to four hours after application. Consistency matters most, so use the same timing each time you retest and record it.
Why is haematocrit monitored on TRT?
Testosterone therapy can raise red blood cell concentration, which thickens the blood and increases cardiovascular risk if left unchecked. Haematocrit is the standard safety marker for this, and it is a routine part of responsible TRT monitoring rather than an optional extra.
Why is oestradiol included for a male panel?
Testosterone converts to oestradiol in the body, and on TRT that conversion can increase. Levels that are too high or too low both cause symptoms, including mood changes, water retention and reduced libido, so it is monitored to keep the balance right.
Do I need to fast, and how often should I retest?
Fast for 10 to 12 hours where lipids are included. Monitoring intervals are set by your prescribing clinician, but testing is commonly done at three to six months after any dose change and then periodically once stable. Always follow your prescriber's schedule.
