How to prepare for this test
To ensure accurate results:

Take your sample between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM

Only take the test when any short-term illness has resolved
-
If you have periods, take the test 2–5 days after your period begins (ideally on day 3)

If you do not have periods, the test can be taken at any time
-
Avoid intense exercise for 48 hours beforehand
-
Avoid fatty foods for 8 hours before the test (fasting not required)
-
Stay well hydrated
-
Take your sample at least 24 hours after any vitamin or mineral supplements
-
Avoid biotin supplements for 2 days before your test (unless prescribed – consult your GP)
-
Do not take vitamin B12 for 2 weeks before your test unless prescribed — check with your doctor

Hormonal contraception may affect results — for the most accurate readings, consider pausing and waiting for your period to return

If you take thyroxine, continue as usual
-
If you take liothyronine or desiccated thyroid extract (DTE), take it after your blood draw
-
Let us know if you take amiodarone or lithium, as these may affect thyroid results
