How to prepare
How to prepare
- Take your sample between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM
- If menstruating: test between day 2–5 of your cycle (ideally day 3)
- If not menstruating: test at any time
- Avoid applying hormone gels/creams with bare hands for 4 weeks before testing
- Use gloves when applying topical hormones going forward
- Avoid biotin supplements for 2 days prior (unless prescribed)
- Continue thyroxine as usual; take liothyronine or DTE after your blood draw
- Inform us if you take amiodarone or lithium, as these may affect thyroid results
- Hormonal contraception may affect test accuracy
