MRI Arthrogram

A specialist MRI scan performed after injecting contrast dye into the joint space. This technique is especially useful for diagnosing cartilage damage, labral tears, or ligament injuries — commonly used for hip and shoulder imaging.

🔹 How the Process Works

1. Referral & Booking – After you complete your request, a Nuvivo GP will review your details and provide a referral for the scan. We then arrange the appointment at one of our trusted imaging centres.

2. Preparation – In most cases, no special preparation is required. For certain scans, you may be asked to avoid food/drink for a short period or to change into a gown.

3. During the Scan –

   • You will lie on a comfortable, moveable table which slides into the MRI scanner.

   • The scanner makes loud tapping or knocking sounds — earplugs or headphones will be provided.

   • The procedure is completely painless and usually lasts 20–45 minutes, depending on the number of areas scanned.

4. After the Scan – You can go home straight away. A consultant radiologist will review your images and prepare a formal medical report.
