How to prepare
How to prepare
- Take your sample between 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- Fasting not required, but avoid heavy or fatty meals before testing
- Avoid strenuous exercise, sex, and nipple stimulation for 48 hours prior
- Stay well hydrated
- Avoid supplements (iron, B12, multivitamins, biotin) for 48 hours
- Stop biotin 2 days prior (unless prescribed)
- Continue thyroxine as normal; delay liothyronine or DTE until after the blood draw
- Inform us if you take amiodarone or lithium
- If menstruating: test between day 2–5 of your cycle (ideally day 3)
