Kidney Health Blood Test
3 Biomarkers | Venous or Capillary Blood Test | CE-marked | UKAS-accredited | Doctor-reviewed results with personalised interpretation
A kidney function profile checking creatinine, eGFR and urea. Designed for people wanting to assess kidney filtration and waste processing markers, this test gives clear, clinically reviewed insight so you can understand your results and know what to do next.
Results are typically available within 2 working days from when your sample reaches the laboratory (excluding weekends and bank holidays).

How to prepare
• Fasting required 8–12 h before the test(water only) recommended for glucose cholesterol/triglyceride accuracy
• Sample timing: between 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Stay hydrated; avoid strenuous exercise, heavy meals, and supplements (iron, B12, multivitamins, biotin) for 48 hours prior
• Continue prescribed medications unless otherwise directed
Frequently asked questions
Who is this test for?
It is for adults wanting to assess kidney function, particularly those with high blood pressure, diabetes, a family history of kidney disease, or who take medications that affect the kidneys. It measures creatinine, eGFR, urea and electrolytes.
How should I prepare?
Stay normally hydrated and drink water as usual, as dehydration raises creatinine and can make kidney function appear worse than it is. Avoid strenuous exercise and a very high protein meal for 24 hours beforehand, as both raise creatinine temporarily.
Do creatine supplements affect the results?
Yes. Creatine supplementation raises serum creatinine and can lower your calculated eGFR without any actual kidney problem. Stop creatine for at least two weeks before testing, or tell us you take it so the result is interpreted correctly.
What does eGFR actually mean?
Estimated glomerular filtration rate indicates how efficiently your kidneys filter blood, calculated from creatinine, age and sex. It declines naturally with age, so a modestly reduced figure in an older adult may be entirely normal. Trends over time matter more than a single value.
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is not required for kidney markers alone, though it is advisable if your panel also includes glucose or lipids.
